Where to download it and what it costs
The demo is free and installs from its own Steam store page. It is a separate product from the full game with a different app ID, so it does not appear as an extra inside the full game library entry, and you can uninstall it without touching a full-game install.

What the demo covers
The demo runs the Prologue and part of Episode 1. You start in the Labyrinth, then push into the Scarlet Church after the Genesis Configuration is taken, which matches the opening of the full game rather than a bespoke sample level.
The publisher describes it as an introduction to the main characters and to the basics of combat, crafting and puzzle solving, so expect to be taught systems rather than handed a full arsenal.
Store wording: the Steam listing calls the demo "part of Episode 1". That phrase, not the demo name, is what tells you the slice is partial.
Does demo progress carry over?
No. Both the launch coverage and the publisher-facing descriptions state that progress made in the demo does not carry over to the full version, so nothing you unlock or collect is a head start.
That also means you lose nothing by finishing or abandoning the demo. Save-file handling on PC, including Steam Cloud behaviour, is covered on the saves and Steam Cloud page.
Platform and system requirements
The demo is a Steam release, and the official product page labels it "STEAM DEMO" rather than a cross-platform trial. No PlayStation or Xbox demo build has been published, and community threads note the same absence.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit (22H2 or later) | Windows 10 64-bit (22H2 or later) |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1500X / Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 5 5600X / Intel Core i5-12400F |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 | AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT / NVIDIA RTX 3060 |
| Storage | 50 GB available space | 50 GB available space |
| Notes | SSD recommended | SSD recommended |
The processor, memory and graphics floors match the full game. Only storage differs on the store listings: 50 GB for the demo against 80 GB for the full release. The PC requirements page carries the full-game table.
How long the demo takes
Published figures disagree. One community wiki describes the demo as a 45-minute preview, while a player report puts a playthrough at about 80 to 90 minutes. The gap is large enough that this page does not offer a single number.
A reasonable planning range is therefore one to one and a half hours if you explore, and under an hour if you follow the critical path. Playtime for the full release is on the how long to beat page.
Content warnings
The demo carries the same content descriptors as the full game. The store listing flags mature language, intense violence, blood, torture, consensual cutting, drug and alcohol abuse, tobacco use, and non-explicit consensual sexual content, with narrative themes that include suicide, BDSM and addiction.
There is no streamer mode or content filter that removes these elements. The full disclosure list is on the content warnings page.
Unconfirmed regional note: a single community post says the demo was unavailable in Germany while the full game stayed listed. No official statement supports it, so treat it as a report rather than a region lock.
Frequently asked questions
Is the demo free?
Yes. It is a free Steam download under app ID 5184670, separate from the full game.
Does demo progress carry over to the full game?
No. Progress made in the demo does not carry over, so nothing you unlock there is a head start.
Is there a PS5 or Xbox demo?
No console demo has been published. The official product page labels the trial STEAM DEMO, and community reports note the absence of a PlayStation or Xbox build.
How much disk space does the demo need?
The Steam listing asks for 50 GB of available space, against 80 GB for the full game. An SSD is recommended for both.
