The demo is a separate release
The demo is its own release rather than a preorder perk, and it went live on 17 September 2026, three weeks before the game. It is not the opening of the full game trimmed for size; it is a standalone build with its own storage requirement and its own progress rules.
That matters for two reasons. Progress in a demo build does not automatically become campaign progress, and the demo's install size is smaller than the full game, which changes whether it fits on your drive. Both are covered on the demo page, and the demo's route is on the demo walkthrough.
Physical releases and the game key card
Physical releases use two formats, and they do not behave the same way.
- PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — disc releases that install from physical media.
- Switch 2 — a game key card, which is a physical item carrying a download rather than the game data, dated 30 October 2026.
Game key card caveat: buying the Switch 2 boxed release does not avoid a download and does not deliver the game on the digital launch date. Anyone wanting to play on 8 October needs the digital version.
Collector's edition shipping

What comes after launch
The official FAQ states there is no season pass and no planned future downloadable content or content updates. For a buyer, that means the 8 October 2026 build is the release, and there is no later version to wait for.
