Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival Ending Explained

Ending Explained for Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival. Understand the conclusion and assess any documented alternatives without assuming multiple endings.

Both conclusions, the single decision point that selects between them, and the state of the canon question for the October 8, 2026 release build. Full spoilers. The full plot leading up to the choice is on the story explained page.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival has two endings, and one choice decides between them. At the end of the Labyrinth, Deep Throat invites Aidan to become a Cenobite while the merchant Zora urges him to keep what is left of his humanity; whichever side you walk to before the wall closes is the ending you get.

Neither branch is a good-versus-evil split, and the game does not tell you which one counts as canonical. The sections below cover the reveal that lands first, then each ending, then what the developer has and has not said about canon.

Where the choice happens

There is a single irreversible decision near the end, not a hidden flag built up over the campaign. Deep Throat, the Cenobite offering Aidan a place among them, and Zora, the merchant who has advised him throughout, are both present, and the game asks which of them he will follow.

The timing matters. The route to Deep Throat has to be taken before the wall closes; hesitating with Zora keeps you on the human path instead.

One save, one ending: the choice is irreversible in the moment, and the game has no Chapter Select. If you want to see both branches, keep a save from before the final approach.

The reveal that comes first

Before the choice, Aidan restores Sunny's body by feeding her Marlowe's heart, and the cost lands on him physically: she takes a large bite out of his arm. That is when he learns she had already made her own deal with Pinhead, agreeing to be the vessel for the Hell Priest's rebirth.

The Hell Priest calls her the revenant mother, and her reward for taking part in the rite is a place among the Cenobites. What looked like a rescue was a delivery.

The reveal also retroactively changes the deaths Aidan caused on the way. He only needed flesh from the chosen to restore her, so the kills were never strictly necessary. The character breakdown is on the Sunny page.

Ending one: becoming a Cenobite

Walk toward Deep Throat before the wall closes and Aidan accepts the offer. Chains pin him in place and his tongue is taken first, as an opening sacrifice, before he is taken into the order.

This branch closes on the Cenobites rather than on Aidan. Sunny and the others, all but the Fallen, open Leviathan's body and enter the Void inside it to experience sensation at its extreme. It is the ending that treats the box as a door rather than a threat.

Ending two: staying human

Refuse the invitation and stay with Zora, and Aidan leaves the Labyrinth as a person. He says he will work out what kind of life he can build, and that he will try not to ruin this one.

Zora's reply carries the theme: he is not beyond saving, he is only human, and humans can change. It is the quieter of the two conclusions and the one most coverage reads as the more positive outcome.

Which ending is canonical

No official answer exists. The developer has not named a canonical branch, and coverage of the ending notes that a sequel would be the natural place to settle it, with the human ending reading as the more positive of the two.

That gap is unlikely to close through updates. The official FAQ states that there are no plans for future DLC or content updates, so nothing is currently scheduled to designate one branch as the real one.

Treat canon as open: "no announced canon" is not the same as "confirmed ambiguous forever". If a sequel is announced, this page needs revisiting.

Achievements and replay

The ending choice is a narrative fork rather than a completion gate. There is no Chapter Select, so the practical way to see the other branch is a save taken before the final approach, or a second run.

Achievement conditions, including anything tied to finishing the campaign, are listed on the achievements page.

Frequently asked questions

How many endings does Hellraiser: Revival have?

Two. A single irreversible choice near the end of the Labyrinth decides between becoming a Cenobite and staying human.

How do I get the Cenobite ending?

Cross to Deep Throat before the wall closes. If you hang back with Zora instead, you get the human ending.

Which ending is canon?

The developer has not said. Coverage notes that a sequel would be the natural place to confirm it, and the official FAQ states there are no planned DLC or content updates.

Can I see both endings in one playthrough?

Not directly. There is no Chapter Select, so keep a save from before the final approach or run the campaign again.
